YappersHQ is a free community that runs Counter-Strike 2 servers and this website (yappershq.com). This page says what we store about you, why, who else sees it, and how to have it removed. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

What we store

  • Your Steam account: your Steam ID, name and avatar, when you play on our servers or log in to this site with Steam.
  • Your game activity: when you connect and for how long, which server and map, and your in-game stats (kills, rounds, ranks, season progress). This builds your profile, the leaderboards and the server pages.
  • Your IP address, when you connect to a game server. It is used to enforce bans and to stop banned players from coming back. It is never shown on the site.
  • Moderation records: bans, mutes, warnings and reports, with their reason and the staff member who made them. Active bans are listed publicly on the bans page.
  • Chat and game logs from our servers, and on some servers game recordings (demos), which include in-game voice. Staff use them to settle reports.
  • Your Discord account, only if you connect it: your Discord ID and name. We ask Discord for your identity only, not your messages or servers.
  • What you send us: feedback, map requests, staff applications, gallery screenshots, and clips you upload.
  • Supporter purchases: what you bought and when. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

Logging in and cookies

You log in with Steam, and you can connect Discord to your account. We then keep one cookie, a session cookie that keeps you logged in for up to 7 days. It is needed for the site to work, so we do not ask for consent for it. We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Our host, Cloudflare, may set a security cookie to block bots. The site also remembers small settings in your browser (for example which tab you had open), which never leave your device.

Uploaded clips and YouTube

When you upload a video clip to a server gallery, the file is kept on our server only until staff review it. If staff approve it, we upload it to the YappersHQ YouTube channel using YouTube API Services, credited to your in-game name, and then delete the file from our server. A rejected clip is deleted, and so is a clip nobody reviewed within 14 days. The gallery then shows the video from YouTube.

Once a clip is on YouTube, Google's own terms and privacy policy apply to it, and to anyone who watches it there or in our gallery: see the Google Privacy Policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. We only use our access to YouTube to upload approved clips to our own channel and to check that they are still online. We do not access anyone else's YouTube account.

Who can see it

Your profile, stats, leaderboard places, approved gallery items and active bans are public. Everything else is seen only by our staff. Our service providers process data for us: our server and database host, Cloudflare, Stripe for payments, Steam and Discord for login, and YouTube for approved clips. Data is kept on servers in the EU, except where those providers run their own services.

How long we keep it

Stats and game history are kept for as long as the servers run, because they make up your profile and the long-term leaderboards. Moderation records are kept so that bans keep working. Clip files are deleted as described above. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also object to how we use it. To ask, open a ticket on our Discord and give your Steam profile link. We answer within 30 days. Deleting your data removes your profile, stats and uploads. We keep a record of an active ban until it ends, so that deletion cannot be used to get around it. If you think we handled your data wrongly, you can also complain to your national data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update the date at the top. Big changes are announced on our Discord. See also our terms of use.
