How do I join a YappersHQ server?
You need Counter-Strike 2 on Steam. Open the server's page and press Join, or open the in-game console and paste the connect command shown there, for example: connect eu.yappershq.com:27015 (Jailbreak). Jailbreak and Zombie Riot are always online; the other modes start when a game is scheduled. The servers are free to play.
CS2 workshop maps with friends are not working (unable to establish connection). What can we do?
Hosting a workshop map yourself means your friends connect to your PC, and that fails when your router does not forward the game port. Our servers are already hosted: everyone joins the same address in one click, on custom Workshop maps that download by themselves. Pick a mode, schedule a game with Fill to Play, and send your friends the link.
How do I join a CS2 community server with the console?
In Counter-Strike 2 open Settings, Game, and set Enable Developer Console to Yes. Press the ~ key (the one under Esc) on the main menu, type connect followed by the server address, for example connect eu.yappershq.com:27015, and press Enter. The address of every YappersHQ server is on its page.
What does the Join button do?
Join opens a steam://connect link. Steam starts Counter-Strike 2 if it is not running and connects you to that server, so you do not have to type the address. If your browser asks whether it may open Steam, allow it. If nothing happens, use the console method with the address shown next to the button.
Why does my first join take longer?
Most of our servers use custom maps and content from the Steam Workshop. The first time you join one, the game downloads what that server needs, then loads the map. Later joins are quick because the files are already on your PC. Modes played on the standard CS2 maps (Public, Retakes, Super Powers, Prop Hunt, Competitive 5v5) need no download.
How do I play a mode that is not online right now?
Some of our modes run on servers that start on demand; the server list shows which. Open Fill to Play, pick the server and a time, and the game is posted on our Discord. People say they are in, and the server starts ten minutes before the game.
Do I need a microphone?
A microphone is strongly recommended. On Jailbreak the warden gives orders by voice, Trouble in Terrorist Town is about accusing and defending, and Zombie Riot is co-op, so all three are built around talking. You can play with text chat only, but you will miss most of the game, and you cannot be warden.
How do I suggest a change or give feedback?
Open the Feedback page. Sign in with Steam, write your idea and it is on the board at once; other players can say they want it too, and staff answer there. You can also post in the feedback forum on our Discord: those posts show on the same board.
What are the rules?
Each game mode has its own rules page, plus community rules that apply everywhere. Read them before you join: not knowing a rule is not accepted as a reason in a ban appeal.
How do I report a player?
Report it on the YappersHQ Discord with the player's name, the server, what happened and, if you have it, a clip or demo. If an admin is on the server, tell them in chat while it is happening.
I was banned. How do I appeal?
Find your ban on the public ban list to see the reason and how long it lasts, then appeal on the YappersHQ Discord. Include your Steam profile link and your side of what happened.
What do supporters get?
A thank-you for donating. Donations go into growing the community: marketing and reach, so more players find us. What Active Supporter includes on each server is listed on the Donate page.
How do I become staff?
Staff are picked from active players: people who show up, get games going and are good to play with. When we are taking applications, the staff page links to the form.
Still stuck? Ask on the YappersHQ Discord.
