About YappersHQ

YappersHQ is a gaming community that runs community servers for Counter-Strike 2. The servers are built around voice chat: the game modes are at their best when people talk to each other.

Why "Yappers"

The name comes from one idea: a server where people talk is a server that lasts. When everyone just plays and nobody says a word, it gets boring fast. When people yap, the players are the content.

The goal is a place that feels like home. Not a place to mess around at everyone else's expense, but a community people want to be part of, with its own rules.

Game modes

Always online

Jailbreak is prisoners against guards with one voice in charge. A warden gives orders, prisoners follow them or rebel, and guards keep order without killing anyone who did nothing wrong.

Zombie Riot is a co-operative survival mode. A team of players holds out against waves of AI monsters that get harder each wave, with boss fights along the way.

On demand

Trouble in Terrorist Town (TTT) is a social deduction mode. A few players are secretly traitors, the rest are innocent, and a detective tries to work out who is lying before the innocents are killed. It runs when a game is scheduled, like the nine other modes below.

How it is run

The servers are hosted in the EU and are free to play. Volunteer admins moderate them, and every ban is listed publicly on the ban list with its reason and an appeal route. Players who are on a server right now are shown on that server's page with a link to their profile, for as long as they are on it. Donations go into growing the community, and supporters get Active Supporter status as a thank-you.

Ten more modes, on demand

Two servers are always online: Jailbreak and Zombie Riot. Ten more game modes each have a server that starts on demand when players schedule a game with Fill to Play: 1v1 Arena, AWP Only, Combat Surf, Competitive 5v5, Deagle Only, Prop Hunt, Public, Retakes, Super Powers and Trouble in Terrorist Town.

Fill to Play

A community server is only fun when it is full, so games are arranged. A player picks a server and a time on the Fill to Play page. The game is posted on the YappersHQ Discord as an event, people press "I'm in", and a sleeping server starts by itself ten minutes before. Scheduled and past games are listed on the events page.

Joining

You need Counter-Strike 2 on Steam. Jailbreak and Zombie Riot are always on: press Join on the home page, or paste the connect command into the game console. For any other mode, schedule a game on Fill to Play and the server starts ten minutes before. Read the rules first. Games are organised on the YappersHQ Discord.
